First Day Of School

Today is that dreaded day of days. Children look forward to seeing their friends but not to getting up so early, parents look forward to peace & quiet but not the blaring of that alarm clock. You save on your groceries but spend more on your gas. Today is the first day of school.

All three children have uniforms this year, something new to them. All three on their own with out my help or input, wore the same colors lol. Khaki shorts or pants with a red shirt. I have a picture on my camera I will share it later, they all look good and proper.

Christopher got his schedule as he got to school, they had had a mix up at open house. He is happy he got the classes and teachers he was hoping for. Honors Science and Advanced History. The Science teacher is very hands on, he doesn’t like paperwork. Which is good cuz neither does Christopher. He told the students they would take a computer apart and put it back together. I am not so sure about advanced history but…..

Caitlin who told me again and again she was not tucking in her shirt, they could send her home… well before she went int eh front door they made her tuck her shirt in lol….. poor baby. So do I get to say I told you so yet? She spent 45 minutes on her hair this morning, now she got it cut short and she straightened it so why it took 45 minutes I don’t know…

Jacob had a melt down at his school. well that is a little over stated. He didn’t want me to leave and he didn’t want to stay. I had to walk away from him while the teacher held his hand and tears streamed down his cheeks. Now if that doesn’t just break your heart you have never had to do it. But I won’t be doing that again. After school we have to go to the doctors office, I noticed a fine rash on his tummy last night after his bath… he has no fever at all but it sure looks like a strep rash…

Tomorrow I start a full time job and I won’t be able to take or pick him up anymore. I won’t be home when he gets off the bus, and 2 nights out of the week I won’t be there when he goes to bed. Pray for us, I am unsure of being able to handle this. So much change… but so far it is an ok first day of school , no surprises.

Eyebrows

You have got to love a teenage girl who is so obsessed with her eyebrows. This is a story Caitlin told me that had me rolling with laughter, maybe it will bring a smile to you this beautiful morning.

Caitlin has been plucking her eyebrows for about 3 years now. She hates them of course they are too big, bushy, hairy, thick and ugly.  She had a friends mom wax them a few times. I tried this once.  Don’t ever let anyone tell you it doesn’t hurt.  there you sit as they put some hot wax on your eyebrow in whatever shape THEY think is pleasing to the eye… then they lay a paper strip over the wax… let the wax bond to the paper a little and YANK they rip the hair encrusted wax strip off of your face AGAINST the grain… painful? well at first all you are doing is sucking in air, like when you are building up to one horrific scream. Then the kicker… you realize you have TO DO IT AGAIN! You only have one side done, and now you know its is not going to feel good either. Ugh. Anyway back to Caitlin…

She goes to Texas, Her hair has recently been done, she has new clothes, she can do her own nails and they look fantastic. She looks in the mirror and her eyebrows are growing back…. She forgot to pack tweezers so no plucking this time. Her and a friend decide to get their eyebrows done at the local mall there in Dallas. First clue: in Dallas.  So they look for a sign, they see one says waxing $7. Okay this is good this is the same price as at home. Both girls get it done. Caitlin looks in a mirror and is not perfectly happy since the girl did not arch her eyebrows. I am ignorant here I am not sure what she means… does she wanna walk around looking like she just saw a mouse run across her foot? So Clue 2: Did not get it done right.  The girls go to pay, they hear the lady say “Fourteen Dolla” They look at each other, Caitlin says “scuse me?” They hear 14 dolla again… so Caitlin says “you mean both right?” Lady says “no no 7 each! 7 dolla each, 14 dolla”  Caitlin’s jaw hits the floor then she sees another sign….. 7 dollars pays for a waxing alright…. a LIP WAXING! OMG she thinks who waxes their LIPS!!!!! (thankfully she doesn’t have the noticeably dark hair on her upper lip) She pays it and walks out the door, outside she throws a fit, “what the heck who waxes their lips, 14$ for eyebrows they are insane!!!”

 

If I could describe her outrage, the look on her face, the still indigent look of having to pay so much for eyebrows they didn’t even arch. Oh my. If I could describe that, your coffee would be squirting out your nose, that doughnut you were chewing would be sprayed all over your keyboard, and the next time you went to get your eyebrows done, maybe just maybe you would hear an echo of “14 dolla’s” and remember one pair of flabbergasted and horrified teenage girls.
