Well everyone at my house has had a mini-vacation over the long weekend. It started with a simple phone call on Thursday afternoon. Mama (Miss Brenda) called and asked if Christopher decided on whetheror not he wanted to go with Miranda. Now for the confusion lol. I thought the trip was to Chapel Hill to see Nicholas. In actuality it was to Franklinton, NC to see Aunt Diane. Yeah on the other side of Black Mountain. Okaybut can Jacob go to? Why did I ask if Jacob could go to? Because Christopher was busy when the question was asked and by the time it was asked of him I had talked to Mike who said well if Christopher is not going to be home do you want to come with me to Convention? Now Convention would be the 2008 EMS Convention in Hickory NC. A 4 hour drive. *grin* mini vacation….. and our anniversaryis next week so…… Can Jacob go to the mountains with Grandmama, Christopher, Aaron and Miranda? The answer was yes, Can I go to the convention? The answer was yes and Caitlin was still in Texas so there ya go.
Caitlin’s first since she left first. She was gone from Tuesday until Sunday, She had HOSA Nationals in Dallas, Texas as everyone knows from previous posts. This is her PSA team. They had to do a Public Service Announcement, they chose A.E.D.’s in High schools, as a result of there PSA they are at the top of the waiting list for an A.E.D. If you don’t know (and I didn’t) an AED is an automatic external defibrillator, {to shock your heart back into a regular rhythm} They competed with 23 other PSA teams and they placed in the top 10 out of the nation! Can’t tell you exactly where. They give you the top ten, then they tell you 3..2..1 and that’s it. Everyone 10th through 4th gets to believe they are 4th place. Caitlin is unsure if Mrs Wilson will ever know exactly where they finished but there you go.

She did ride the Superman (see prior post) she said it was a scary ride where you sit with your feet dangling and you go way up then drop and then bounce back and forth or rather up and down (bungy strap???) She also did the JFK Tour and said it was boring at first but then it got very interesting and she enjoyed it, she brought her Grandmama back a copy of the newspaper from when Kennedy was assassinated.
Next Me and Mike because well we left next, we were gone from Thursday night until Sunday. We took a rental car, a gorgeous Toyota Camry that I fell in love with. I get car sick, I had to sit in back cuz Scott is so tall and he has to put the seat all the way back to be comfortable, its a 4 hour ride to Hickory. Did just fine the ride was smooth, no swaying all over the place. I even read my book on the way back! At the convention they had vendors, rescue trucks on display and competitions, team and individual. It was VERY interesting and it has me thinking maybe (MAYBE) I would like to join the department as well. I even got to go swimming at the hotel. Here is a very cool truck that you can drive either way check it out:

Last but not least are my boys, they left Fridaymorning. They did good, behaved and Jacob impressed everyone with his manners. I don’t know what happens when they get bigger but all 3 of mine had good manners when they were under 10. Apparently puberty just erases manners. They took their games with them though and I was told that is pretty much what they did, even while watching tv. That is single minded determination for you. They had a wonderful time with a mishap. Usually someone gets sick while we are on vacation or something goes wrong. This time it was Miranda who got the oops/ugh award. While trying to run downhill on slick grass in flip flops she fell. It earned her a ride in the ambulance and a cast on her leg. She has a possible cracked bone in her foot/ankle. The on call doctor at the urgent care wasn’t sure if it was broke but decided to treat it as broken until she could see a doctor who was better at reading x-rays (his words)
Everyone returned home on Sunday. Us first around 2:30 – 3 pm, then the boys around 4:30 … Caitlin whose plane landed at RDU at 3 didn’t make it home until after 8. Bus driver missed his exit, took another to hwy 210 to save time from missing the right exit and then got caught in a bad storm that downed a tree across their road so they had to turn around and go the L-O-N-G way home. But everyone had a good time and is home safe and sound! What a weekend.
